In 2007, the celebrity began a romance with Danielle Bux, who was 20 years his junior, and the couple tied the knot in Italy.
However, after six years of marriage, they announced their separation in early 2016, reportedly over differing desires to start a family.
In 2019, Gary revealed: “Danielle and I are best mates, we still speak three times a day, we text all the time. When she comes to London she stays with me, and when I go to LA I see her.”
Over the years, Gary has reunited with his second wife for special occasions as the pair have stayed on good terms following their split.
Danielle married Nate Greenwald, an American entertainment lawyer, in 2019, with whom she welcomed daughter Romy.

At the time, the mother-of-two took to and shared a snap of her ex-husband alongside her eldest daughter, Ella, who she had in a previous relationship with Adam Willis.
The sports presenter previously explained how he maintains a connection with his ex, and Danielle’s current husband never gets “jealous” of their relationship.
“He’s not got a jealous bone in his body,” Gary told the Radio Times. “We get on really well. We go out for dinner when I’m in LA. It might be unusual and people might go, ‘That’s weird’ but, frankly, I don’t care. What is normal? Is it better to get divorced and end up fighting, screaming and shouting? Or is it better to get on if you can? “.
Gary Lineker has since announced his departure from Match of the Day
The Leicester legend has remained single since and has been quite open about his personal life. In 2021, he admitted that intimacy wasn’t a priority for him anymore, acknowledging that his testosterone levels had decreased with age.
More recently, he expressed no regrets about not being married, finding satisfaction in his work and spending time with his sons.
Speaking to The Times, Gary shared: “I like being on my own… I don’t feel lonely. I have the odd date here and there, but nothing, not in terms of a long relationship. I’ve been married most of my adult life. Two really good marriages, I’m friends with both.”
Gary also dismissed the idea of using dating apps and wouldn’t allow his sons to create an online profile for him. Initially, he denied having any celebrity crushes, but later added: “I’m not giving you any names, though, because that always ends up being embarrassing.”
