I’m A Celebrity’s GK Barry was faced with a tough call to make in the jungle, while a fellow campmate confessed to feeling exceptionally down, saying they had “never been this unhappy”.
The jungle contestants had been divided into groups, each with a cash card for purchasing essentials. However, a twist was revealed in the latest episode.
The teams would now have the opportunity to spend their accumulated funds on a variety of treats to share among their teammates at the end of the day, with one final challenge to boost their remaining balances.
It was Coleen Rooney and Radio 1 host Melvin Odoom representing team pink, Tulisa Contostavlos and Barry McGuigan for team blue, and Oti Mabuse and GK for team orange.
All pairs participated in the Piggy Bank challenge, which consisted of three rounds to win piggy banks worth $250 each for their teams.
The campmates had to choose treats for their team
In each round, a token would drop above the mesh surrounding the teams’ heads, and they had to maneuver it to the exit and place it in the holder. The team with the fastest completion time would win the round, while the two losing teams would have one piggy bank dropped to the floor per round, reports .
The remaining piggy banks at the end of the three rounds would be added to each team’s total amount. The blue team clinched the first round, but the oranges triumphed in the second and third rounds.
The pink team didn’t fare as well, losing all three rounds and ending with a total of $620. The orange team only lost one round, retaining three out of their four piggy banks (an additional $750), bringing their total to $1390 for their prize pot.
Maura was unhappy her team had no chocolate to choose from
Despite this, the blue team, starting with the highest value, emerged as the overall winners, adding $500 to their prize pot for a grand total of $1490 to splurge on treats.
However, the game wasn’t over yet. The top-performing team in the challenge had the privilege of first pick from the treat selection, followed by the second-place team, leaving the third-place team with whatever was left.
Tulisa and Barry from the blue team were given first dibs at a treat wall featuring options priced at $500, $300, and $100.
They opted for four slices of chocolate cake, four crumpets with butter and jam, four double chocolate biscuits, and three sports results of their choice for Barry.
Next up were Oti and GK, faced with the tough task of choosing from the dwindling options. They ultimately selected four sets of fresh clothes (including socks), four glasses of blackcurrant squash, three sachets of salt and pepper, four plain biscuits, and one bowl of popcorn for their team.
Back at the camp, reality TV star Maura Higgins was left disappointed by the absence of chocolate for her team. With a gaze filled with envy, she lamented: “I didn’t even get cake for my birthday. They’ve got double chocolate cake and double chocolate biscuit, I’ve never felt this unhappy in my life.”
I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
