Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland was forced to defend himself moments after pro partner Dianne Buswell admitted to a blunder.

Blind comedian Chris and his Australian dance mentor and professional partner were talking to when they opened up on some mistakes this week – and an inadvisable remark.

The pair joined Janette on the Strictly It Takes Two sofa to talk about how their past week has gone as well as their preparations for the quarter-final of the hit dance competition and musicals week.

Dianne spoke about how she had been helping celeb partner Chris out both behind the scenes and on-stage through the series – and then Janette pointed out a blunder that she had spotted.

Dianne said: “It’s really important to always create some sort of vision in Chris’ head so that he has an idea of how he should feel, how he should stand, but yeah it was a lot of me placing him into really odd shapes and going ‘this is right’ and he’s going ‘it’s not right Di, but it is right!.”

then pointed out that in their last dance at the weekend, had actively moved her skirt around on stage to avoid tripping Chris up, and then fell over it herself.

Chris added: “Let’s not forget that she fell over and I picked her up as well so, you know, it works both ways doesn’t it.”

Janette added: “What’s funny is she moved the skirt so you didn’t step on it and then she almost stepped on it herself bless her.”

Janette then took Chris to task about something he said about musicals heading into the famous musicals week.

She told him: “Chris I have a bone to pick with you, on the results show you used the word pointless to describe musicals.

“Chris, now that you’re deep into rehearsals, have you started to see the point in them?”

Defending himself, Chris then replied: “Do you know, what if I wasn’t allowed to exaggerate my stupid opinions for a laugh then there’d be no such thing as comedy.

“I’m a stand-up comedian and I say stupid things and I say them to get a laugh.

“I’m not a musical theatre fan but I do like the kids’ ones and we all grew up on the films didn’t we.”
