Stephen Graham in Netflix’s gripping new crime series with one major twist
Stephen Graham, renowned for his remarkable performances in Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders and numerous other iconic British series, is set to feature in a gripping new drama arriving on next year.
The streaming giant has unveiled an enticing first glimpse at the four-part limited series this week, ahead of its eagerly awaited premiere.
Titled Adolescence, the crime drama will also star Top Boy’s Ashley Walters and Erin Doherty, who is best known for her portrayal of young Princess Anne in The Crown.
Echoing Graham’s acclaimed film and TV project Boiling Point, each episode of this new series is filmed in one continuous shot, allowing the action to unfold in real time and compelling the audience to remain engrossed in the riveting drama.
A synopsis reveals: “Adolescence tells the story of how a family’s world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller (played by Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school”, reports .

“Stephen Graham will play Jamie’s father and ‘appropriate adult’, Eddie Miller. Ashley Walters stars as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe, and Erin Doherty is Briony Ariston, the clinical psychologist assigned to Jamie’s case.”
Philip Barantini, the director of Boiling Point, returns to direct this series, which was created and penned by Graham and Joy screenwriter Jack Thorne.
The cast boasts talent from Game of Thrones with Faye Marsay, The Responder’s Christine Tremarco, Happy Valley’s Mark Stanley, After Life’s Jo Hartley, and fresh face Amelie Pease.
The series teases a grim narrative through a collection of images, portraying the harrowing journey of a teenager entangled in a gruesome murder case.
In a poignant image, Graham, playing Jamie’s tormented father Eddie, is seen sitting with his son, likely delving into the events that transpired.
Top Boy’s Ashley Walters is on the case
Another snapshot casts doubt on Jamie’s innocence, depicting him confronting Doherty’s character, psychologist Briony, in an unsettling manner.
A glimpse of Walters as DI Luke Bascombe hints at a grave demeanor as he embarks on his inquiry within Jamie’s school.

Jamie intimidates his psychologist
While no specific release date has been announced, the show is slated for exclusive release on sometime in 2025.
Graham isn’t slowing down, with multiple projects underway, including two ventures with Peaky Blinders mastermind Steven Knight.
His upcoming 12-part Disney+ series A Thousand Blows follows two Jamaican brothers who connect with Graham’s seasoned boxer Sugar Goodson. The series, launching next year, will also feature Doherty alongside Malachi Kirby and Francis Lovehall.
Graham is also set to return as Hayden Stagg in Knight’s Peaky Blinders feature-length sequel, The Immortal Man, sharing the screen with Cillian Murphy, Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth.
