The leading man, who has graced Outlander with his presence for a remarkable ten years, divulged potential directions for the show’s conclusion in an exclusive chat with .
“There’s just so many ways that we could finish the story. We want to make it right. We’ve had a lot of discussions. We’ve put in our two cents,” the actor revealed.
He understood the diverse expectations, observing: “Everyone’s got their own version of how they want it to end, from the fans to the producers to the writer.”
“And I actually think there might be multiple endings from what I hear,” Heughan remarked.

Caitriona Balfe, Heughan’s co-star portraying Claire Fraser, shared her thoughts separately, stating: “[Season 8] is probably the season I’ve known the least about going into it.”
She confessed her level of insight, continuing: “I have no idea how the season ends. We only got the scripts for Episodes 1 and 2 about two months before we started. We would usually have more [time].”
She added: “I don’t think [the producers] trust any of us, to be honest.”

She concluded: “I think they’re trying to keep things very, very close to their chest. We are as excited and nervous and curious to see what’s going to happen as everybody else.”
In a previous chat with The Herald about the eighth season, Sam Heughan revealed his determination to deliver an ending for Outlander that loyal fans deserve, reports .
The leading actor disclosed that although the show was “supposed to finish this season”, his desire to conclude the narrative properly led to the decision of “going back to do one more [season]”.
Heughan described his perspective on wrapping up the story, saying: “I want to finish the story, not only for myself but for the fans. It wouldn’t feel satisfactory to just end it, left in the air.”

Eager to shape a memorable goodbye for audiences, he added: “Diana is still writing the 10th book and there is plenty more that we haven’t been able to cover.”
Discussing the conclusion of the series, he stated: “We will have to end it some way. Perhaps not a way that the books end it. I am pushing for a different ending.
“I don’t think I am going to get what I want,” he added, before reasoning that – while the finale “is never going to be satisfactory for everyone” – hopefully fans will get given “some sort of finality”.
