I won my battle with condensation thanks to a Karcher window vac reduced for Black Friday

Anyone who has experienced a damp or draughty home can attest to the discomfort of waking up to windows covered in moisture. The relentless rain and low temperatures last winter meant I spent what felt like countless hours wiping windows and sills in every room of our house before my first morning coffee, all in an effort to prevent mould growth.

I was bulk buying containers of to use on every window ledge – I shudder to think of the waterfalls I would have had otherwise – and picked up a to mitigate the effects of drying laundry indoors, but I was sceptical about investing in another expensive gadget. So, I continued wiping.

It was a never-ending, miserable task that made every morning feel like a particularly damp Groundhog Day. It was the smiley face one of my children had drawn in the condensation, leaving inevitable fingerprints on the glass even after I’d wiped the moisture away, that finally pushed me to explore my options.

As a shopping writer, I was familiar with but couldn’t justify the cost of their , despite the positive reviews and even Mrs Hinch reportedly being a fan. However, when Amazon reduced the price for last year’s Black Friday, I couldn’t resist giving it a try.

Over a year later, having utilised it consistently through two winters and now seeing it further reduced to its lowest ever price in the internet behemoth’s current sale, I can confidently declare that it is one of the best home gadgets I’ve ever bought. What’s more, the , has been reduced by 31% for Black Friday 2024, .

The water tank collects an astonishing amount

comes equipped with two suction nozzles, a spray bottle, a microfibre cloth and a sachet of 20ml window cleaning concentrate, enabling you to make windows, shower doors, and mirrors gleam while also absorbing unwanted moisture. It charges incredibly quickly, allowing me to navigate around the house in record time once it had arrived.

I was taken aback by how it was, as well as its efficiency in removing all the liquid (and the generously sized tank revealed it was a frankly staggering amount of liquid) without leaving any streaks behind. There was no longer a need for strenuous scrubbing or constantly washing drenched microfibre cloths, and the 35-minute battery life meant I only had to charge it about twice a week.

It was worth every penny, particularly when compared to the potential costs of dealing with damp and mould in a home once they’ve established themselves. I’m not the only one who’s a big fan of this gadget, reports .

has been a top-seller throughout Amazon’s Black Friday week event so far and boasts an average star rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on 7,958 reviews.

One delighted customer hailed it as ‘the best way to clear condensation,’ saying: “Does a good job. No other way that I can think of where you don’t end up with a wet rag to wring out that will evaporate off into the house again. It collects about half a litre on cold days.”

Another shared their approval by stating: “Makes a boring, tedious job really easy,” and a third chimed in with high praise, remarking: “This has been great for removing condensation from windows and water from shower walls after use, improving the overall air quality in both the home and caravan. I gave 4 stars for suction to highlight that it’s not the same power as a standard vacuum cleaner, but perfectly adequate for the tasks that I need it to perform.”

However, those looking to extend their reach might need an alternative option. A less satisfied user pointed out that when it comes to two-storey houses, this might not be the ideal solution, noting: “We bought the full kit as the extension seemed like the perfect item to help clean upstairs windows. The arm isn’t even close to being long enough, don’t waste your money unless your downstairs windows are huge and need an extra arms length to reach the top, and even then, but a step ladder it’ll be more useful.”
