Money expert Martin Lewis has issued a warning to everyone with a Tesco Clubcard.

This weekend, 18 million Tesco Clubcard money off vouchers are expiring, which means you’ll no longer be able to use them for money off your shopping this Christmas, or be able to convert them to other rewards via Tesco’s app.

has urged shoppers to check their vouchers now to make sure they aren’t going to lose money.

The expiry deadline is because Tesco issues vouchers in blocks and they last for two years, meaning there are key dates when millions of vouchers expire en mass.

Speaking on The Money Show Live on ITV1 and ITVX, Martin warned Tesco customers that they need to act before this Saturday to make sure they don’t risk losing vouchers they’ve earned from their shopping.

Martin said: “I’ve got a warning for Tesco shoppers. Ending on Saturday, 18m Tesco Clubcard vouchers expire.

“Now, the vouchers that you get with Tesco Clubcard, they last two years.

“So check the dates online or via the app to see if any of yours are expiring and then spend them all or you can double their value on Tesco Rewards for things like Pizza Express.”

But if you’re not ready to spend, and you don’t want to lose them either, Martin explained that there is a ‘trick’ to keeping them for another two years with a 50p purchase.

He added: “There is a trick to extending them though.

“Say you’ve got a £10 voucher. Make a 50p purchase on Tesco Rewards for a restaurant voucher, and then, you usually get the change, 950 points, and that lasts another two years.

“Tesco says it won’t always honour that if it thinks you’re trying to jemmy the system but I’ve never heard of it not doing so, so it will usually work.”
