A security incident has been reported at Center Parcs Whinfell Forest in Cumbria.

It’s understood staff at the resort in Brougham were “running around panicking”, a video from the scene shows an alarm being sounded at the holiday park after an evacuation message was issued to guests through the PA system.

Whinfell Forest is said to be the largest of Center Parcs’ five UK holiday villages, with accommodation for more than 4,600 people in over 800 units.

According to the Center Parcs website Whinfell Forest includes “a wildlife sanctuary nestled on the edge of the Lake District” where guests can “experience a range of activities, restaurants and traditional accommodation, all set around a beautiful lake”.

A spokesperson for Center Parcs pointed to a local short failure of electricity supply.

They said: “We understand that there was a very short power outage that affected the local area around Penrith, this evening.”

North West Ambulance Service said it was not aware of any calls to the location. Express.co.uk have contacted Cumbria Police for comment.
