star Maura Higgins missed a showing of her big screen debut to undertake her jungle stint. The former star undertook her first movie role opposite former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt in a new comedy film called The Spin.
The Irish movie was the opening film of the Dublin International Comedy Festival on Wednesday (November 27) but while many of the cast and crew attended Maura was otherwise engaged on the other side of the world.
She has a small role in the flick as a character called Rose and can be seen looking pensive in the trailer. Also appearing in the trailer is Kimberly who plays a stripper called Dallas.
Described as a “comedy bromance” the movie, which is set in Omagh, Northern Ireland, follows two down on their luck record store owners, Elvis (played by Owen Colgan) and Dermott (Brenock O’Connor), as they take a cross-country road trip to Cork.
The pair hope to acquire a priceless record to save their failing business and prevent them from being evicted by their evil landlord, Sadie (Tara Lynne O’Neill).

Maura Higgins has snubbed her own film premiere
The film is yet to get a cinema release date but while they seek a distributor they are playing the festival circuit.
Maura was one of the later additions to the jungle arriving in camp four days after the other contestants. Last night (Tuesday) viewers watched as Maura and Loose women’s Jane Moore undertook a Bushtucker Trial entitled Fright at the End of the Tunnel.
Working together they had to navigate a series of tunnels. While Jane was underwater Maura was above ground. In true I’m A Celebrity fashion the piar were joined by aquatic creatures and creepy crawlies.
This forced Maura to face her biggest fear when she encountered spiders. “Jane, I don’t know if I can do it. There’s an awful amount of spiders,” she exclaimed as Dec tried to calm her down telling her: “Just take it nice and easy, just keep breathing.”
She’s making her big-screen debut
Despite her wobble Maura has received a huge boost as she has seen her odds slashed to win the show.
According to betting giants Ladbrokes she is now at 5/1 to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, leapfrogging Richard Coles and Coleen Rooney, both 7/1, in the betting.
However, she is still behind McFly star Danny Jones whose odds have shortened to just 4/6 to go all the way. Meanwhile Melvin Odoom has joined Jane Moore as joint-rank outsider at 200/1.
Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “Danny Jones has led the betting from day one, but it’s all change behind him, with Maura now hot on the McFly star’s heels in the race for the jungle crown.”
