wants to stay and work with in “some capacity” as he prepares to with the American team. Haas will field a completely new driver line-up next year, with and arriving at the outfit at the end of the season.
Magnussen joined Haas in 2017 following a one-year spell with Renault but was dropped at the end of the 2020 season.
He then returned to the team in early 2022 after Nikita Mazepin’s contract was terminated.
Magnussen finished 13th in the Drivers’ Championship standings in his first season back at the North Carolina-based team but could only muster 19th place last time around.
He has endured another inconsistent season on the track this year, with a rare high coming at the end of October when he finished seventh at the Mexican Grand Prix.
And discussing his future at the weekend in Las Vegas, the 32-year-old revealed he and Haas chief Ayao Komatsu are reluctant to part ways next year. “I think we have been clear that we want to work together in some capacity,” he explained.
“We are talking about how we could do that of course. A little bit it’s come from Ayao and I’m open to hear what he is thinking and see if I can be helpful in any way.”

Magnussen was then asked if he is experiencing any negative emotions as he prepares for his final two races with Haas. But he alluded to his previous departure in 2020 as well as his demotion to a reserve driver with in 2014 as he insisted: “No, I don’t think so.
“For myself, I’ve been in this situation twice before, so it’s the third time that I feel like this is going to be the last race. I just know that you never know, so it’s kind of fine in a way. I don’t really think about it.
“Next year I’m not going to be in Formula 1, that’s pretty clear, but I’ve learned over the years and with my experiences from one that every race you do, you just have to enjoy it. And as long as it lasts, enjoy it. So that’s my plan.”

Haas’ decision to move on from Magnussen was . And at the time, Komatsu teased a new role for the Dane as he stated: “There’s plenty of racing to go this year so I’m looking forward to seeing what else we can achieve with Kevin as we push together in the championship.
“Beyond that, and with Kevin’s special relationship with the team, I’m hoping we can find a way to keep working together in some capacity.
“We can hopefully define that in the near future, but his extensive experience in Formula One and knowledge of our working operations are undoubtedly of value in our ongoing growth and development.”
