I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers were left in hysterics on Tuesday night as they claimed they spotted host Ant McPartlin’s ‘swipe’ at Dean McCullough.
During the latest episode, Maura Higgins and Jane Moore learned they had received the most votes and would therefore be taking on Fright At The End of The Tunnel together. To announce the news, hosts Ant, 49, and Declan Donnelly entered the camp where Ant said: “Dean the public have decided it’s not you.”
It comes as Dean embarked on his sixth trial on Tuesday night after consistently finding himself tackling the feared Bushtucker Trials often with little to no success. After learning he wasn’t doing another Trial, which would have been his seventh, Dean was left delighted as he started cheering with his campmates to which Ant quipped: “We’re as thrilled as you are Dean!”
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to spot Ant’s remark over the show change. One person said: “‘Dean, the public have decided it’s NOT you’ Ant: ‘We’re as thrilled as you are!!!’ #ImACeleb” followed by laughing emojis, another wrote: “The public have decided it’s not you Dean Ant ‘we’re as thrilled as you are’ #ImACeleb” with a laughing GIF, another put: “Ant: ‘Dean, it’s not you and I’m as thrilled as you are’ #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity” with a shocked laughing GIF while a different viewer added: “Ant: I’m as thrilled as you are Dean. Hahaha the sass #imaceleb.”
I’m A Celebrity’s Ant and Dec shared the news
Ahead of the challenge, GK Barry said of Jane: “This woman is going to sleep so peacefully tonight, she’s wanted to do a Trial since she got here and I know she’s gonna absolutely smash it.”
Meanwhile, Maura admitted: “I’m petrified, I just don’t want to let everyone down.” Making their way down to the Trial clearing, hosts Ant and Dec were waiting for them, and Ant had an observation for them based on the Fright Bus the night before, as he said: “You’re probably the screamiest bunch of celebrities we’ve ever had on this show!”
Explaining what was in store for them, Ant and Dec told them that the Trial was made up of two tunnels with one above ground and one below ground.
The celebrity above ground would need to find the secret code words hidden in their tunnel, reading them out to the celebrity below ground who would be underwater and would need to use the code words to unlock the stars. After deliberating, Maura took the above ground tunnel while Jane opted for the below water based tunnel.
I’m A Celebrity’s Dean McCullough was left delighted at the news
With 12 minutes to collect 12 stars, the klaxon soon sounded and Maura had to move through the tunnels as quickly as she could, searching through the sand on the floor of each part for hidden code words. However, in true show style, Maura wasn’t alone as she was joined by toads, lizards, and her worst fear – spiders.
Meanwhile, Jane swam through the water tunnels but struggled with the water element when her goggles steamed up and she struggled to keep her head down underwater for the time needed to unlock the stars.
In the end, Jane and Maura won an impressive six out of 12 stars for camp, where they also received praised from Ant and Dec who said: “That was a very, very tough Trial, so I think you did remarkably the pair of you, you should both be very proud.” On the way back, an emotional Maura got teary over conquering her fears.
