The Queen, 52, wore a black strapless gown by Spanish courtier Cristóbal Balenciaga in the photograph, with ruched detailing across the bodice and an A-list style skirt, along with a red satin shawl.
She accessorised the outfit with Queen Ena’s Diamond Riviere necklace and diamond drop earrings.
The official portraits, which captured in the Royal Palace in Madrid earlier this year, were taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz and presented by the Bank of Spain on Monday.

Since pictures of the portraits were shared online, Queen Letizia of Spain has received plenty of praise by royal fans from across the globe. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “Queen Letizia’s portrait is beautiful and dramatic.”
Another said: “Wow, that’s what you call a portrait.”
A third person wrote: “Amazing queen Letizia.”

While the picture of Letizia won the praise of royal fans, a few did not hold back from criticising the portrait of King Felipe, believing it was too “gloomy”.
One person wrote on X: “I especially don’t like that Felipe’s portrait seems very shadowed. It would be great if there was a bit more light.”
Another said: “Felipe had some regal dignity (even if the portrait is quite dark).”
The portraits come after a year of milestones for the royal couple, who celebrated their 20th anniversary just months ago.
King Felipe also celebrated the tenth anniversary of his reign back in June, which came about in 2014 after his father Juan Carlos I abdicated.
