Princess Kate set to take on biggest role since cancer treatment at royal event next week

was forced to step back from the majority of her royal duties this year as a , with the mum-of-three announcing she had in September.

While the Princess of Wales has stepped out on the royal stage a few times this year, including and has held a handful of engagements over the last few months, she is set to take on her biggest role of the year so far next week.

Ahead of her next month, which will be the princess’ most significant event of the year, it has also been announced that Kate, 42, will alongside other members of the Royal Family.

During the state visit, the princess will join her husband in greeting Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the first of his three wives, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, at Kensington Palace next Tuesday on December 3.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will then travel with the pair to Horse Guards Parade, where they will receive a ceremonial welcome before meeting King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Presentations will be made, along with a royal salute before the Qatari national anthem is played.

The Emir and Sheikha Jawaher will then join the King and Queen, alongside and Kate, in a carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace, where they will be met by a second guard of honour.

The Princess will then head home and not attend the state banquet that will take place at Buckingham Palace that same day.

The state visit will be the biggest event Princess Kate has been involved in this year so far, followed by her upcoming carol service on December 6.

According to Kensington Palace, the theme of this year’s event will be based on the importance of love and support during hard times.

A Palace spokesperson confirmed earlier this month: “This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives. The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”
