People swimming at the beach in Benidorm
: the Costa Blanca’s go-to resort for Brits who are after a holiday in the sun, on a budget. But why limit yourself to a week or two-week break in ‘Beni’, when you can bag yourself your own place and visit whenever you like?
According to Spanish property website , flats just a seven-minute drive from the famous Levante beach are on the market for as low as €59,500 (£49,667).
The properties are studios and may require some work, but if you’re looking for something likely bigger and in better condition, there are apartments available for just over £112,000 that have two bedrooms and access to a swimming pool.
Benidorm, known as “Blackpool in the sun”, boasts fabulous nightlife, beach activities, restaurants catering for Spanish and English tastes, as well as a rustic Old Town.
Benidorm is famous for its high-rise accommodation
If you’re looking for a place in the sun that’s a little more Spanish than the anglo-centric town of Benidorm, then why not look at the mountainous town of Guadalest?
Guadalest is about a 30-minute drive from Benidorm’s ‘English Square’ and has an entirely different feel to its coastal neighbour.
However, despite the traditional charm and high-end character of the town, Guadalest’s property market can also cater to those on a budget.

Express.co.uk found properties for sale in Guadalest for £75,000 in August
Express.co.uk visited the town in August after hearing that homes were for sale for £75,000. Speaking to local estate agent Federico Nunez, he warned British prospective buyers to be careful not to be sucked in by “fake” listings.
He told this website: “It is easy to understand. You call a real estate agency, ‘I have interest in this property’… [the agency replies] ‘now this one has sold but we have another property, come to our office… to see similar properties’. But the similar properties is maybe €150,000 [£125,000].
“We’ve these fake properties, you make a contact – people interested to buy.”
