Man stabbed 19 times with screwdriver as police launch hunt for attacker

The police are urgently hunting a suspect after a man in his 30s was viciously stabbed 19 times in the head, abdomen and back with a screwdriver.

Officers received multiple calls at around 9.10pm following reports of an assault in East London on August 19.

Upon arriving at the scene on Elis Way, Stratford the police found a man who had been “violently” stabbed 19 times with a screwdriver.

After being treated in hospital for several weeks, the victim is now left with life-changing injuries following the attack.

Three months on, the Met Police are still appealing to the public to help find the suspect involved in the violent attack.

The suspect was last seen getting off the Elizabeth Line at Whitechapel on the night of this assault.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and forensic evidence but have not yet made any arrests.

Detective Sergeant Simon Wheeler, from the local CID, said: “We continue to investigate this horrific assault and are urgently appealing to the public to help.

“We are in regular contact with the victim and are examining every avenue of opportunity to find the person responsible and bring him to justice.
