David Walliams has opened up on his sexuality and how he thinks he might identify in a candid interview. The star has had people assuming that he is gay for years – despite being married to a woman.
The 57-year-old former judge admitted he would “probably” have his gender preference as non-binary if he were younger today and also added that his life “may have been easier” if he were gay.
Speaking on the Uncomfortable Conversations with Josh Szeps podcast, the comedian shared how he would probably identify if he were a university student today. He said: “I think in a way I’d probably say I’m non-binary, I think. Probably. I don’t know exactly.”
David added that back in his own university days, when he , he and his then-girlfriend were frequent visitors to gay clubs. He told the podcast: “I used to go out to gay clubs and dance for like six hours and I’d be wearing a skirt and stuff like that.”
The TV star added: “Sometimes I think my life would’ve been easier if I were just gay. I’m really drawn to gay things. I love gay culture.”
David was previously married to Lara Stone
Comparing himself to Little Britain co-star, , Walliams said: “It’s funny because Matt Lucas is gay, and he’s into football and musicals too… but yeah, I’d say I’m probably more camp than him.”
He suggested sexuality exists on a spectrum, adding: “I think probably most – not everybody – but a lot of people probably are somewhere on the kind of spectrum, aren’t they?”
David shared a bit about his own sexuality, admitting that he could be “bi-curious”.
When asked about his past description as “Britain’s most famous bi-curious comedian” and whether he had experimented with men, Walliams responded: “Yeah, I’d say so.”

The TV star was previously married to supermodel Lara Stone. The pair dated for seven months before he proposed to her with a £100,000 Tiffany engagement ring hidden inside a burger.
They married in May 2010 in an £80,000 ceremony at Claridge’s hotel in London. Their nuptials had a star-studded guest list with big names such as ex-Spice Girl Geri Horner, , Fearne Cotton, Vernon Kay, Tess Daly all in attendance.
The couple welcomed their first baby, a boy named Alfred, on May 6, 2013.
But in March 2015, David and Lara announced their split which was finalised within six weeks of Walliams filing for divorce.
