Susanna Reid offered her co-star, Ed Balls, some words of encouragement on today’s (November 26). The presenter was feeling wary about one segment on the , when his colleague offered some supportive words.
The show cut to a clip of Ed lost in a world of melody as he tickled the ivories of a beautiful grand piano on the ITV set. Susanna explained that Jools Holland would be joining them, hence why the instrument was on set, but Ed couldn’t resist having a little go himself in the break.
Susanna shared: “I heard Ed and Jools practicing their jazz hands just a couple of minutes ago so we’re going to re-enact that.” Turning to Ed she added: “You’re a bit nervous aren’t you? Playing with Jools Holland.”
Her co-star responded: “Nervous? I’m beside myself! He’s a star and I can’t really do it.”
But Susanna was ever supportive of her colleague as she hit back: “Yes you can! I’ve seen you, it’s brilliant.” But Ed wasn’t so sure still as he replied: “The reason I did it earlier in the break was to get it out of the way so that I wouldn’t have to play with Jools Holland because I couldn’t do it.”
Susanna added: “But you did it so well. And we’re going to do it live.”
