Loose Women star Denise Welch addresses Ofcom backlash about Meghan Markle

Actress and TV presenter has said that Meghan Markle is “the most bullied woman in the world” nearly six months after people complained to Ofcom about her defence of the star and her husband .

In May, Ofcom received over 100 complaints after Denise, 66, said she was “just sick to death of the bashing [Meghan] gets” on show

Denise explained: “If you get me on television supporting and someone comes on who was paid to lie in an interview to say the documentary was absolutely dire when they’ve not even seen it then I’m going to kick off with that person.

“It doesn’t mean I’m a horrible person, it’s means that I’ve got a voice that I’m prepared to use to support someone that I don’t know, but that I feel gets a terrible terrible rap in this world, it’s .

“And then of course you get the people who are who will portray me on social media to be ‘a bully’. It’s like well I’ve never bullied anyone in my entire life. If you mean by checking someone that I vehemently disagree with because they’re denigrating someone that they don’t know either.

“I don’t know how she gets through every day that woman, I really don’t. I really really don’t. She’s the most bullied woman in this world, but if you stick up for someone you’ll then be accused of being a bully.”

Denise’s comments about Meghan and Harry came just days after , a move which experts say could trigger a US exit for the couple after the Trump threatened to deport the prince if he won the election.

One expert has said that a move back to the UK or to Europe could become a more likely option for , particularly after it was reported that the latter’s friend, Ellen DeGeneres, was planning a relocation to the Cotswolds.

As to why they purchased the real estate, said although it may look like a step towards the UK they would also be joining a wave of people who have left and returned to the USA.

He told the New York Post: “Their life in the US — there’s so many people that move away and move back, so I don’t think there’d be anything unusual about Harry and Meghan leaving the US for Europe.

“But maybe living in the States wasn’t what they thought it would be and that could be why they’re now supposedly edging their way back in the direction of the UK.”
