Stuck for an idea for your next holiday? Fear not, for a guru has revealed three of her favourite destinations to travel to via from – and despite their distance, they are all accessible within a day.

Sarah regularly shares ‘flight-free’ trip recommendations on her account, and in her latest video showcased locations in Italy, Austria and Switzerland. “Here’s three of the best holiday destinations you can get to from London by train in a day,” she began in a video.

Brunico, Italy

Gazing over serene surroundings of a lake in front of some mountains, Sarah began: “The first is the town of Brunico in The Dolomites – it’s a beautiful town in perfect reach of major sites like Lake Braies and the Three Peaks with plenty of activities like cycling, swimming and hiking.

Sarah explained that in order to get there, travellers should take the Eurostar to Brussels or Amsterdam before embarking on a sleeper train to Innsbruck in Austria.

“Check out the Old Town here before taking two local trains with outstanding views of the mountains to Brunico,” she added.

Bern, Switzerland

Next up on Sarah’s list was Bern, Switzerland. “It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited,” she gushed. “And in summer you get to do this unforgettable activity of floating down this crystal blue river.”

After sharing a glimpse of the cityscape, Sarah captured footage of the Aare River, with scores of visitors partaking in the activity. “It’s super easy to get to,” she confirmed. “Take the Eurostar to Paris – have lunch here then take a three-hour train to Basel. Change here and get a final one-hour train to Bern.”

In a snippet of the final leg of her journey, Sarah recorded herself enjoying the luxury of an “amazing restaurant car” on board the train, a small adventure playground for the children, and “even better scenery” than her trip to Italy.

Kitzbuhel, Austria

The final location on Sarah’s list was Kitzbuhel – a ski town also accessible via the Amsterdam to Innsbruck sleeper. Once there, a local train takes you to the “snowy mountain tops” an hour and 20 minutes away.

But how much do these excursions cost? Sarah took to the comments section of her clip to explain. “Option 1 [Brunico]: London – Amsterdam from £82 return, Amsterdam – Innsbruck with bed in 4-person couchette from £54 (when booked 2/3 months in advance). Innsbruck – Fortezza – Brunico from £18.

“Option 2 [Bern]: Paris – Basel from €29. Basel – Bern from £30. Option 3 [Kitzbuhel]: Option 1 + Innsbruck – Kitzbuhel from £17.”
