Remoaner Carol Vorderman fuming over general election petition and demands ‘rejoin the EU’

has slammed the petition demanding call another general election, suggesting the country should have another EU referendum as well.

The former Countdown star and long-time Remoaner took to social media platofrm X to voice her anger at the “right wingers stamping their feet”.

She wrote: “Right wingers stamping their feet saying call a General Election. Tell you what …. Let’s have a Rejoin the EU referendum at the same time? Six million people signed that petition.”

Launched just five days ago, suddenly gained massive momentum over the weekend, despite the country already going to the polls five times in the last 10 years.

At the time of writing it currently has a , earning it the title of Britain’s fastest-growing petition ever.

The Government is obliged to respond to all petitions that garner more than 10,000 signatures. Any petition that amasses over 100,000 signatures will be considered for a debate in Parliament, although this is not guaranteed.

The petition was set up by Michael Westwood, who argues that “the current Labour Government have they laid out in the lead up to the last election”.

Westwood, a small business owner, he thinks voters feel “betrayed” by Labour and that the “promises that were told” ahead of the July election “looking nothing like” the reality.

He said: “The British public feel like they have been betrayed with the promises that were told in the lead to the election and then what has been delivered since – it looks nothing like what was promised.

“I think people have had enough, people have seen what’s happened over in America as well, and I think that’s had a knock-on effect that, actually, if people stand together and vote then we can make a change.”

It quickly garnered the attention of MPs, who are rallying the public to sign the petition to express their frustration with Starmer’s leadership.

, the party’s deputy leader, urged: “Let’s make this the biggest petition ever in the UK – sign, share, and spread the word.”

Rupert Lowe MP added: “Register your discontent, register your anger, register your . Send Starmer a message. Sign, share, and share again.”

Ex-Tory MP Mark Jenkinson commented: “It looks like we’re heading for a parliamentary debate on having a general election.”
