Davina McCall breaks down in tears in heartbreaking first video since brain tumour surgery

Davina McCall has broken her silence for the first time since . The TV legend took to as she shared a heartfelt message with fans from her bed, before breaking down in tears.

Speaking into the camera the 57-year-old presenter said: “Hi, I just thought I’d check in and say an enormous heartfelt thank you to everybody who has messaged me or been in touch.” She choked up slightly, and held her chest as she emotionally continued: “It’s… God… It’s meant the world.”

Explaining a bit about the journey that she’s been on, and sharing that she is now back home, continued: “It’s been mad. It’s just really nice to be back home. I’m on the other side.

“My short term memory is a bit remiss, but that is something that I can work on so I’m really happy about that. I’m writing down everything that I’m doing to keep myself feeling safe.

“I’m being brilliantly looked after by Michael and my mum.” She went on to give extra thanks to her step mum, adding: “I’d quickly like to big up the step mums. I don’t really say thank you to Gabby enough. She’s been an amazing rock my whole life.”

Davina began to tear up again as she said: “I was talking yesterday to someone and I said I’ve got a massive dose of vitamin G.” She sniffed before continuing: “I think when something like this happens I just feel so grateful.

“I’ve always been grateful, I’ve been really lucky in my life but I feel unbelievably grateful right now. So thanks for everything, all of you.

“I’m on the mend, I’m resting, I’m sleeping loads and I feel really good. I just feel very lucky.”

In the caption of the video, Davina thanked a number of people including her partner and mum, her friends and the medical staff who had been looking after her.

She added: “I am feeling much better. Had a great nights sleep in my own bed. Have a couple of sleeps during the day which keeps my brain clear… slowly slowly… huge gratitude, and love for the world and my life and the beautiful people in it.”

Famous faces flocked to the comments of the post to wish Davina well. Singer Olly Murs wrote: “Awww so happy you’re back home Davina x we all love ya!!”

Loose Women star Ruth Langsford said: “Good to see your lovely face. Rest up and let those lovely people take care of you,” while This Morning’s Alison Hammond added: “Get better soon superstar.”

Doctors discovered a benign tumour on Davina’s brain after she was offered a health scan. She was diagnosed with a colloid cyst, which she shared “is very rare”.

Before going for the surgery, she explained to fans: “I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions. I realised that I have to get it taken out. It’s big for the space – it fills the space. It’s 14mm wide. And it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad.”

She said: “It will be removed via a craniotomy – they go through the top of my head here, and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, get the cyst, empty it, take it out, and Bob’s your uncle. So say a prayer for me. I am in good spirits.”
