Shanahan MacInnes was found dead in Benbecula, Scotland
A missing woman has tragically been found dead in Scotland’s Western Isles after a desperate police search.
Shanahan MacInnes, 28, was last seen in the early hours of Friday, November 22 in the Tindill Road area of Balivanich, with Police Scotland stating it was “extremely out of character for Shanahan to be missing”.
On Sunday afternoon, police announced that a woman’s body had been discovered in the Aird area of Benbecula after a search involving around 60 volunteers, as well as the coast guard and firefighters.
While formal identification is yet to take place, Ms MacInnes’s family has been informed. Her family released a statement on social media saying they are “absolutely heartbroken”.
They said: “Shanahan’s passing was an extremely tragic accident. It was nobody’s fault.”

Shanahan’s workplace, The Shore Room Hair and Beauty salon, said it would be closing until further notice. They said: “We appreciate all the love and support we have received at this time.”
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
At the time of her disappearance, her loved ones confirmed she had left behind her car, purse, phone, car and keys.
Meanwhile, the search continues in nearby Stornoway for missing teenager Aleksandr Benga.
Stornoway is located on the Isle of Lewis, approximately 95 miles north of Benbecula.
The 16-year-old was last seen near the water wheel in the grounds of Lews Castle on Monday, November 18.
