Multiple loud explosions were reported in Kursk, , as air defence systems were activated during a missile strike, with projectiles reportedly shot down over Kurchatov, Kursk, Zheleznogorsk, and Lgov in the region.
Kursk Governor Alexei Smirnov has now issued an all-clear in the region, confirming that seven missiles and seven drones were shot down overnight.

Separate footage appeared to show the Kaluga oil refinery in flames after a series of drone strikes.
The Russian defence ministry said 34 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight into Sunday in four regions of western , including Kursk, Lipetsk, Belgorod and one over the Oryol region.
The MoD’s most recent bulletin on the war highlighted the success has been having with uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones in recent weeks.

The total tonnage of ammunition destroyed across the sites represents the largest loss of Russian, and North Korean supplied, ammunition during the war.

Separately, the Russian military have captured a British national fighting alongside Ukrainian troops in ‘s partially occupied Kursk region, state news agency Tass reported Monday, citing unidentified sources in law enforcement.
The man was identified by Tass and other media as James Scott Rhys Anderson.
Tass quoted him as saying that he had served as a signalman in the British army for four years and then joined the International Legion of , formed early on in ‘s nearly three-year-old war against its neighbour.
In , Anderson reportedly served as an instructor for Ukrainian troops and was deployed to the Kursk region against his will. Tass published a video of the man saying in English that he does not want to be “here”.
The report couldn’t be independently verified, but if confirmed it could be one of the first publicly known case of a Western national captured on Russian soil while fighting for .
