Max Verstappen saw his post-retirement plans to indulge without a care in the world quickly dismissed by girlfriend Kelly Piquet. could call it quits on sooner than many might expect.
Despite being only 27 and having a contract with until 2028, Verstappen has . He has also refused to commit his future with the team beyond next season.
If he does sign a new deal after that, he has promised it will be his last in the sport. The appeal of leaving behind the strict regime is strong for Verstappen, especially as he would no longer have to watch his weight as closely as he does now.

This was made clear during the filming of Viaplay’s documentary, : Anatomy of a Champion, released today in the UK via Amazon Prime. Both he and Piquet were attending a ceremony where he was made an Officer of the Order of the Chamber of Nassau – one of the highest honours in his native Netherlands – in September 2022.
They were asked if they had a nice holiday following that year’s summer break, with Piquet replying: “Yeah.” Verstappen was then quizzed on if he had gained any weight. He responded: “Yeah, I gained three, three and a half kilos again. But I lost it in one week.”
The interviewer joked: “After 40, it doesn’t work like that anymore, I’m afraid.” To which Verstappen admitted: “Oh, but when I’m 40, I’m not racing anymore. So then I can eat what I want.”

Piquet was not at all on board with that suggestion, responding resolutely: “No, no, no.” Verstappen, looking rather meek, replied: “No? I’m gonna become like a sausage roll.”
Piquet simply laughed and said again: “No.” Verstappen’s suggestion of trading Formula 1 cars for motorcycles also took Piquet by surprise. When questioned about his own bike, he explained: “It’s still in the Netherlands.”
An intrigued Piquet interrupted to ask: “Which bike?” Verstappen revealed: “My Harley [Davidson].” She continued: “You have a Harley? For what?” Before he explained: “Well, exactly that. What would be nice is to maybe put it in the living room.
“Maybe it’s better in a few years’ time, I’ll have time to ride it with my fat belly on the tank, you know?” Prompting Piquet to quip: “You can join the Hells Angels of Monaco.”
