is facing calls for another after a petition demanding one gained over 400,000 signatures.
Launched just four days ago, suddenly gained massive momentum overnight, despite the country already going to the polls five times in the last 10 years.
At the time of writing it currently has a whopping 456,000 signatures, earning it the title of Britain’s fastest-growing petition ever.
The Government is obliged to respond to all petitions that garner more than 10,000 signatures. Any petition that amasses over 100,000 signatures will be considered for a debate in Parliament, although this is not guaranteed.
The petition was set up by Michael Westwood, who argues that “the current Government they laid out in the lead up to the last election”.

It has garnered the attention of MPs, who are rallying the public to sign the petition to express their frustration with Starmer’s leadership.

Ex-Tory MP Mark Jenkinson commented: “It looks like we’re heading for a parliamentary debate on having a general election.”
