F1 star in danger of missing Las Vegas Grand Prix as team release worrying statement

have released a statement confirming that will need to complete a pre-race medical evaluation ahead of the after suffering a heavy qualifying shunt.

The Argentinian racer was being heavily linked with heading into the weekend, but his confidence will have taken a hit after clipping the inside wall during his final run in Q2.

Colapinto was the only Williams driver to make it out of Q1 after was eliminated. Unfortunately for James Vowles, the 21-year-old crashed hard with two separate impacts, causing significant damage to his FW46.

Due to the 50G impact of the crash, the medical car was automatically deployed and following an assessment in the medical centre, Williams released a statement.

It read: “During qualifying, Franco sustained a significant impact of over 50G, requiring a medical check-up. An impact of this magnitude is obviously significant and severe and he will need to be evaluated again tomorrow before we will know whether he is clear to race.

“Franco’s health is all that matters and we are glad he is otherwise okay. We will provide further updates when we can.”

If Colapinto isn’t cleared to race, Williams will be lining up with just one car on the grid for the second race in succession after Albon’s heavy qualifying shunt at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
