As much as 40cm of snow could fall in the UK this weekend (stock)
Snow is coming to the UK again this weekend, with the warning could dump up to 40cm in some parts of the country.
The national weather agency has put out several for , ice, rain and wind, stretching from today (Friday, November 22) through to Sunday (November 24)
Saturday (November 23) is when the most severe weather is likely to hit, with a yellow rain and snow warning issued from Scotland’s northern reaches down to the Midlands.
Additionally, there’s an amber warning for significant snow and ice in parts of Scotland on Saturday, spanning Aberdeenshire, Argyll and Bute, Highland, Stirling, Perth and Kinross, and Angus – where snow depths could reach a startling 40cm at higher altitudes.
In a recent update, meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “Heavy snow is expected over parts of northern England and Scotland – a short sharp burst on Saturday.

“We could see 40cm on higher ground, but even 5cm to 10cm at low levels, accompanied by a strong and gusty wind.”
But how long will we actually have snow on the ground for? It turns out, not very.
Deakin went on to warn of “heavy rain” coming with the snow, and said Storm Bert is also bringing “milder air”. He said: “So it will warm up, so the snow won’t last that long.” He also warned that the melting of the snow, together with torrential rain, could lead to potential “flooding issues”.
Those in Wales and the South West should brace for the worst downpours of rain, with yellow warnings for rain in place there across Saturday and Sunday.
The rain warning issued for Wales cautions that “some communities may be cut off” due to flooded roads. It adds: “Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.”
