With his future up in the air, Bottas has been releasing a series of videos and teasers to his fans on social media, all centred around the phrase ‘What’s Next?’. First, he enjoyed a series of exotic and extreme sports in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Then, the former racer took things to a new level. After completing the final round of the triple header at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Bottas completed an Ironman distance triathlon within the confines of his own villa.

The Finn completed the 3800-metre swim in the modest swimming pool on the property before hopping onto his Peloton bike to complete a 180-kilometre cycle ride. From there, he staggered across to the treadmill, battling through a gruelling indoor marathon to end his challenge in a respectable 11 hours.

Not settling at an Ironman triathlon, Bottas continued his search for pain, getting a tattoo of the words ‘What’s Next?’ on his left thigh. In a video posted to his social media channels, the 34-year-old can be seen grimacing through the pain before showing off his new ink.

The next step in the ‘What’s Next?’ saga is merchandise. Bottas arrived in the Las Vegas GP paddock wearing a turquoise sweater with his new catchphrase embroidered on it. Fans are now able to purchase the item with some of the proceeds going to charitable causes.

More F1… [DRAMA]

As for Bottas’ next steps, the future is still unclear, but he has a desire to remain in the F1 paddock in the hopes of securing another drive for 2026. For me, at the moment, I feel like jumping into a new category comes quite quick,” he said in Las Vegas.

“We’re almost in December. I think that’d be more realistic if I don’t find a seat in F1 during 2025 or for 2026. It’s all these things that I need to kind of try and plan, but the picture has not even formed in my head what is the ideal situation.”
