A fan has shared a nifty  to help speed up washing your crockery and glasses that have been in the dishwasher.

If you’ve ever found yourself polishing your plates and glasses for hours on end after doing the washing, there’s one item you’ll need to complete the hack.

Rachael Eppley, who regularly shares cleaning and home in a series ‘In case your mom didn’t teach you’, suggested using a towel is the answer.

In a video, Rachael explained using a hand towel or tea towel at the end of a dishwasher cycle can leave your crockery sparkling.

To complete the hack, you open the dishwasher door at the end of the cycle before closing it again.

The towel should soak up the moisture and steam, leaving your crockery and glasses with no water marks.

Rachael wrote in the video’s caption: “If you put a towel on the dishwasher door and then close it the towel will absorb the moisture/ steam so you won’t need to hand dry/ wait for the dishes to dry before putting them away. I love you forever! Xoxo, your mom.”

Rachael’s video has already been viewed over a massive 6.4million times, receiving mixed reviews from viewers.

Experts previously weighed in on the hack, saying it should only be used as a “temporary solution”.

Petya Holevich, a cleaning expert at Fantastic Services, told: “The idea behind it is to use a dish towel to absorb the excess steam inside the dishwasher after the washing cycle is complete but your dishes aren’t dry.

“This happens because steam can prevent dishes from drying properly, and by placing a clean, dry dish towel on the dishwasher door while it’s still warm and steamy, the towel can absorb the moisture, helping to dry the dishes more effectively.

However, the expert said that the hack could have an adverse effect on your dishwasher.

She explained: “I’d highly advise against using this dishwasher drying hack and only resorting to it as a temporary solution. It could create a humid environment within your dishwasher, which may lead to mould or mildew problems over time.
