“I have clearly remarked he’s the greatest driver of all time and if we’re able to give him a quick car he’s going to be able to win,” said Wolff. “He’s able to fight for a championship but we have failed in doing so.”

Though he still bullishly added: “We finished third two years ago, we finished second last year, bearing in mind we haven’t won a race, and we won three this year. So that is not all a failure. That was a pretty good spell for and for Lewis.

“And we will be trying to do it better. We are trying to do it better every single day, every single weekend. And the same will be next season and then the big one in ’26.”

It remains to be seen if Hamilton will finally win his eighth title at . They look set to be one of the fastest teams on the grid next year, having come on leaps and bounds in recent campaigns.

Jacques Villeneuve believes there would be ‘nothing greater’ than seeing Hamilton clinch one more title at , something he believes the Brit is more than capable of doing.
