BBC Strictly Come Dancing star forced to issue apology after on-air blunder

star was forced to issue an apology to viewers following an unexpected on-air blunder.

The 41-year-old was back presenting spin-off show It Takes Two on Thursday night (November 22). But while providing viewers with insight into what dances would be taking place on Saturday’s show, Janette made an accidental slip-up when discussing this year’s Strictly Christmas special.

Talking directly to viewers at home, she said: “Now for the last two weeks we’ve been revealing who is taking part in this year’s Strictly Christmas special.

“So far, we’ve had Josh Widdicombe, Tayce, Vogue Williams, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Tamzin Outhwaite, who, by the way, is dancing to this.”

Pointing to the ceiling as the song played in the background, Janette added: “That’s K.D Lang’s version to Hallelujah.”

However, the version that Janette was referring to was not the one playing in the studio at the time. This led her to quickly apologise to viewers at home while stating the correct version.

She quickly added: “So sorry Kelly Clarkson.” She then hastily moved on to another segment in the show.

This is not the only time Janette has experienced an on-air mishap. Back in June, while presenting the programme Morning Live alongside her co-host Gethin Jones, Janette’s baby monitor appeared to go off in the background.

After hearing the sound of the monitor go off, Gethin said: “Hang on a minute, hang on a minute. Let’s stop the baby monitor on Janette’s phone before we carry on.

“Stop trying to hide it. She opened the WhatsApp group,” he added, with an embarrassed Janette saying: “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. She’s [her daughter, Lyra] okay, it’s fine.”

The clip was later uploaded to Morning Live’s account with a caption that read: “When live TV doesn’t always go to plan!!! #LiveTV #MumGoals.” The video also included another caption saying: “When you try and help people with their overdrafts but baby calls.” (sic)

Janette and her Strictly husband, Aljaz Skorjanec, welcomed their baby Lyra last year July.

Strictly It Takes Two airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Two.
