Windsor Castle unveils glittering Christmas decorations and mini decor in dolls’ house

Visitors to this year will be in for a festive treat as they see the state apartments decorated with magnificent and colourful displays.The highlights of this year’s decorations include a 20-foot-high Nordmann Fir tree in St George’s Hall, taken from Windsor Great Park and dressed with thousands of twinkling lights.

In the crimson drawing room, , which were created as private apartments for George IV, is another huge sparkling Christmas tree to marvel at.For the first time, specially made Christmas decorations will be added to the tiny rooms in Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, a 1:12 scale replica of an Edwardian residence gifted from the nation to Queen Mary, consort of .You can view the decorations at Windsor Castle from November 21, 2024, until January 6, 2025.Express.co.uk shares images of the festive decorations below…

Christmas displays in the Crimson Drawing Room

The Crimson Drawing Room boasts spectacular views across the Berkshire countryside. The room was returned to its former glory after being devastated by the fire of 1992.  was engulfed in flames  – a day which also happened to be the late  and ‘s 45th wedding anniversary.

Festive garlands on the Grand Staircase

Festive garlands adorn the Grand Staircase, where visitors enter the State Apartments. A Royal home and fortress for over 900 years, is the largest occupied castle in the world and remains a working palace today. The 484,000-square-foot castle features over 1,000 rooms, more than 300 fireplaces, and a substantial royal collection of paintings, armor, and furniture to rival any museum.

St George's Hall

Staff are pictured decorating the 20-foot high Nordmann Fir Christmas tree in St George’s Hall. The tree was sourced from Windsor Great Park and will be replanted there after the display closes. The tree is topped with a Garter Star decoration and the ceiling of the Hall is decorated with the shields of the Knights of the Garter.
