Princess Kate set to ‘end year on a high’ at key event with ‘surprise’ move

The is tipped to end the year “on a high” and surprise royal fans at a key festive event.

Princess Kate has faced a challenging year as she was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer and has stayed away from the spotlight for several months to undergo treatment for it.

The future Queen announced in September that her treatment had been completed and that she was eager to slowly come back to royal life. The princess has been working behind the scenes on projects close to her heart, including her work on the early years and her annual Christmas Carol concert, which is set to take place in a few weeks.

The festive event has been a firm fixture in the royal calendar for the past four years and this year’s service will reflect “how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives”. It will take place at Westminster Abbey on December 6 and will be broadcast on Christmas Eve.

Now a royal expert has suggested that royal watchers could be in for a treat this year as people should “never underestimate” the “capacity for surprise”.

Broadcaster Katie Nicholl spoke to the about whether Kate will end up giving another performance at this year’s event. The royal previously showcased her piano skills during 2021’s carol service.

Ms Nicholl told the outlet: “I’m not sure whether she’s going to be involved in the performance at all.

“I think, if anything, certainly, she’s been very much involved behind the scenes. She’s taking meetings, and she’ll be involved in the whole structure of the event.

“I mean, we’ve yet to see. The capacity for surprise, never underestimate it.

“But I think it’s more just her being able to be there and, and to your point about taking, taking joy from her work.”
