A has recommended several that offer the perfect combination of rugged styling, reliability, and low running costs.
A body style that is growing in popularity, many drivers due to their high-up driving position, the track record for safety, and the lifestyle image many of the most popular portray.
Chris Plumb, Senior Valuations Editor at the vehicle checking service , noted that most well-known models are surprisingly good value for money, with examples often selling for under £10,000.
He explained: “The , in particular, remains one of the , with manufacturers continuing to put a great deal of emphasis on design, styling and performance to capitalise on this continuous growth.
“There are some great value deals to be had at present with a good choice of used three-year-old models coming in at under £11,000 and the at under £10,000, satisfying the strong consumer appetite for yet great value motoring.”

According to HPI, the used SUV that offers the best value for money is the Dacia Duster 1.5 Blue dCi, with a three-year-old example that has covered 60,000 miles typically priced at £9,925.
Since the Romanian brand was re-launched in the UK, Dacia has focused on providing low-cost, dependable cars. The latest version of the Duster features an entry price of less than £19,000.
Drivers with a budget of around £10,000 will be able to buy the outgoing second-generation model, which launched in 2018 and is known for having a spacious boot, an extensive range of powertrains, and the option of a very capable four-wheel drive transmission.

HPI also advised motorists looking for a slightly smaller SUV with bags of charm to consider the Suzuki Ignis, a compact crossover that has been part of the Japanese brand’s range since 2016.
In particular, the company recommended the Ignis 1.2 Hybrid SZ5, with 2021 examples featuring 60,000 miles selling for an average of £10,250.
Whilst other cars suggested by HPI are larger, featuring more room for occupants and their luggage, the Ignis SZ5 has plenty of standard equipment, including cruise control, parking sensors, and a touchscreen with integrated satnav.
Finally, HPI also noted that one of the most attractive yet affordable used SUVs is the Subaru XV, with three-year-old examples of the 1.6i SE version typically retailing for £10,850.
Compared to most rivals, the XV is quite a bit sleeker, making it a versatile estate car. However, the sizeable Subaru is particularly capable of being off-the-beaten-track thanks to a good level of ground clearance underneath the floor.
Built from 2018 to 2023, the Subaru XV is also known for being well-equipped, safe in the event of accidents, and very easy to drive compared to rivals.
