Hardest working royal named by fans – and the result is a landslide

In a this week, we asked readers to vote for who they believed is the hardest working royal – and the results were surprising.

Running between midday on November 20 and 9am on November 21, 352 readers cast their vote. A staggering 256 [73 percent] agreed that Anne – who has – is the hardest working royal.

Anne was followed by King Charles, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer earlier this year. Although he ranked second in our poll, he received just 23 votes [23 percent].

Despite his cancer diagnosis, which led to some time away from royal duties, King Charles still completed 186 engagements this year.

ranked third in our poll with 20 votes [six percent], with the Duchess of Edinburgh – who is often praised for her hard work as a member of the Royal Family – making fourth place with 17 votes [five percent].

The Princess of Wales, who was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, also surprisingly ranked higher than Queen Camilla in the poll.

Princess Kate, 42, received eight votes [two percent], compared to Queen Camilla’s five votes [one percent].

Queen Camilla carried out 95 engagements this year, occasionally stepping out alone in the earlier part of the year when the King was absent due to his health.

Towards the lower end of the ranking, the Duke of Gloucester received four votes and the Duke of Kent received two votes.

Prince Edward – the late Queen’s youngest son and Duchess Sophie’s husband – surprisingly received just one vote in our poll.

Six votes were cast in the ‘don’t know’ category of the poll.
