The house is already a hotbed of rivalry, as two contestants face off in an attempt to avoid eviction.

The legendary reality show made its comeback on 2 on Sunday night (October 6), with 16 fresh faces battling it out for the £100,000 jackpot. Upon their arrival, the contestants were thrown a curveball that split them into two groups: ‘housemates’ and ‘non-housemates’.

Upon entry, they had to choose between the red or blue side of the house. Once everyone had picked a side, Big Brother revealed that those on the red side (11 contestants) would be relegated to Storage as ‘non-housemates’, while the remaining five got comfortable in the freshly painted house.

The non-housemates are now in danger of being the first to be evicted.

Monday night’s episode promises to stir up more tension as one non-housemate will get the chance to join the main house and dodge eviction by going head-to-head with a housemate in a game of deceit, reports .

The group decides that non-housemate Martha will square off against Ryan for a place in the house. If Martha triumphs, she can select two of her fellow non-housemates to accompany her into the house and evade this week’s eviction.

If Ryan emerges victorious, he will retain his spot in the house.

During the challenge, Big Brother will position a massive cake between the competitors and detonate it. Ali from the blue team will then be invited in and asked who he thinks blew up the cake.

Martha and Ryan are tasked with convincing Ali that their opponent was the one who detonated the cake, despite Big Brother being the ‘true’ culprit.

Prior to entering the house, both contestants shared their strategies for reaching the final. Ryan, a 28-year-old from Stockport, expressed his desire to remain in the house until the end.

In an interview with ITV2, he stated: “I’d love to make it to the final and win it. I know a lot of it is out of my hands and it’s a public vote – the public aren’t stupid.

“People who have tried to play games in the past, it never works. It would be too hard to keep up a game so I’m going to be myself. If you vote me out for being me then that’s sound, I can live with that. If I go in there and try to play a game and get voted out I’ll be fuming! My strategy is to have no strategy.”

Meanwhile, Martha, a 26-year-old from Scarborough, admitted she didn’t have much of a plan, stating: “I’m going to go in and just be me and hope that’s OK.”

Don’t miss tonight’s episode to see who triumphs in the challenge.

Big Brother broadcasts daily at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
