Chelsea legend Claude Makelele ‘to be sacked after just three matches’ as reasons revealed

Chelsea legend Claude Makelele has reportedly left his role as Asteras Tripolis boss after just three matches in charge.

The Frenchman was appointed coach of the Greek Super League side in mid-September and had enjoyed an unbeaten start to life as Asteras boss.

Drawing his first game in charge, despite playing the final 20 minutes with 10 men, Makelele’s men followed it up with another 1-1 stalemate, before picking up their first win under his tutelage this weekend.

A late blitz from Asteras, including a goal from former ace Federico Macheda, saw the Greek outfit take three points during their Super League clash against Athens Kallithea.

It took Asteras up to seventh in the Greek Super League table ahead of giant and one of ‘s upcoming Conference League opponents, Panathinaikos.

But, the victory doesn’t appear to have been enough to keep Makelele in a job, who has reportedly been let go by Asteras.

from Greece suggest the two parties are ‘heading for a divorce’, citing a difference in philosophies as the main reason for the early split.

A lack of cohesion in the dressing room has also been touted, with Makelele and Asteras having gone their separate ways.

Makelele enjoyed a highly successful playing career, which included a five-year stint at side .

The midfielder was part of one of the club’s most-successful eras, winning a whopping six major honours during his time as a Blue.
