star challenged Defence Secretary over the winter fuel allowance on Monday’s (October 7) instalment of the breakfast show.
The 53-year-old presenter sat alongside co-star Ed Balls and heavily criticised the MP. Susanna has fiercely defended the elderly over the past few weeks and repeatedly asked Mr Healey in relation to the decision to cut the winter fuel payments. During the heated debate, she decided to reference what he once said on the show.
“There is one issue that is dominating our coverage and that is the withdrawal of the winter fuel allowance. Now in the past couple of days, you told Ed Balls this,” she was heard saying
In a previous clip, Ed, 57, was heard saying: “The only people so far who have been asked to pay the price by the Labour Government to lose money is pensioners on £12,00.0 per year. I mean, where is the fairness in that.”
Mr Healey replied: “Across the board whether it is transport, health or in our schools including and in particularly the health service, which many pensioners depend on and re-build the strength of our public services for the long term it is the people who work in this are the most important.”

Susanna Reid was rowed with Labour Defence Secretary John Healey
Susanna abruptly jumped in and said: “I am talking about pensioners.” Mr Healy continued: “I am proud to be a Defence Secretary. The first that can say everyone of those people serving in uniform now will at least earn the National Living Wage.”
A frustrated Susanna was forced to interject and repeated again: “I am talking about pensioners.” Which left a deafening silence between the pair.
Mr Healy said: “Indeed you are. The announcement of the winter fuel allowance as an indication back in July, of the measure of the black hole that we face. The steps that will have to be taken later in this month at the budget.”
Susanna slammed Mr Healey and claimed: “You are making pensioners pay.”
“This is part of the budget,” Mr Healey continued. “This is both part of fixing the foufncatiosn for our economy, and long term for our public services, and people in the end will judge the government on what we do. They will do so over the next two to three four years not just the next two to three months,” he added.
A forceful Susanna said: “So you are not chaning your mind on what you are doing to pensioner?” However, he proceeded to mention that he was looking forward to seeing a “Britain that grows.”
