Those who travel know that while going on holiday is exciting, waiting around at the airport can be a slog.

That is unless you are lucky enough to be , where passengers can enjoy anything from a cinema to a swimming pool while they wait for their flights.

The original airport was built in 1981 for over £1billion, but around £20billion has been spent on it since.

This includes the fifth and largest terminal, which has seen an investment of around £7billion.

Passengers who have to wait hours for their next flight at Changi airport are spoiled for choice when it comes to activities here.

A butterfly garden, a bouncing net, a rock climbing centre, slides, and a hedge maze are among the attractions that will help you kill some time.

In addition to this, you can also go through a mirror maze, go for a swim at the rooftop pool, visit the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, and watch a film at one of two cinemas.

Along with Qatar’s Hamad International Airport in Doha, Singapore Changi has won the award for the world’s best airport multiple times.

After winning the award in 2023, Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer for Changi Airport Group, said: “Changi Airport is honoured to be named World’s Best Airport for the twelfth time.

“This recognition is great encouragement to our airport community, who stood firmly together to battle the challenges of -19 over the past two years.”

One Tripadvisor review said of the airport: “Honestly, there is so much to do in this airport, it’s basically an entire attraction on its own when visiting Singapore.

“Probably the best airport for layovers I’ve ever been to. Tons of good food, shopping, activities.”

Another added: “Even though it may be a bit strange for place so close to the airport, it’s not just for taking airplanes, but also for having wonderful times with family in particular kids.”
