A major infrastructure boost is coming to the UK’s popular seaside town of , as the eagerly awaited Lyminster Bypass nears completion. 

The new £21.6 million bypass is expected to significantly , improve travel times, and enhance access for residents, tourists, and businesses.

The Lyminster Bypass, spanning approximately 1.8 miles, is designed to link Littlehampton with the A284 and A27, key arteries that serve the southern coast of England. 

By diverting traffic away from the often-congested village of Lyminster, the bypass aims to streamline journeys into and out of Littlehampton, improving road safety and providing better access to the vibrant coastal community.

Local authorities have hailed the project as a major improvement for the region, with benefits extending to both commuters and local businesses.

has stated that the bypass will relieve a longstanding bottleneck that has frustrated motorists for years. 

The congestion along the current A284 route has not only led to frequent traffic delays but has also posed safety challenges, with high volumes of vehicles passing through residential areas.

The new bypass features a dedicated roundabout and improved road infrastructure that will help prevent congestion, especially during the peak tourist seasons when Littlehampton’s seaside attractions draw thousands of visitors. 

According to the Council, the project will create safer and more efficient routes for everyone using the roads, including pedestrians and cyclists.

The bypass is also expected to have a positive economic impact on the area. Littlehampton, known for its charming promenade, sandy beach, and local attractions, is a popular destination for families during the summer months. 

However, the heavy traffic on routes leading to the town has often deterred some visitors, especially during peak periods.

Construction on the Lyminster Bypass began in early 2023 and is now in its final stages, with the opening scheduled before the end of the year. 

The £21.6 million project was funded through a combination of government grants and local council budgets.
