A town in the UK, just two hours away from London has been compared to Amalfi coast, an Italian holiday destination.

Ramsgate in Kent has been described as having a ‘distinct continental feel’ with ‘sandy beaches’. It has many waterfront bars, cafes, and restaurants, as well as a view across the marina that visitors can enjoy.

The spot which has been particularly compared to Amalfi Coast is the Boating Pool on Westcliff Promenade, a family-friendly venue with a big round boating pool and palm trees lining the outside.

You’ll also find a combination of artisan and boutiques to explore with colourful buildings and, of course, the town’s sandy beaches.

Additionally, the ‘more adventurous’ visitors can cycle, canoe and kitesurf around the chalk cliff coastline.

Ramsgate hosts the British Freestyling Kitesurfing, Kite Foiling and Wing Foiling Championships. The weather conditions in the town make it suited for the sport, and with a ‘kitesurfing community’, the town is perfect for people of all abilities to try it out.

There are loads of dog-friendly activities in the town as well, with welcome signs and bowls of fresh water found across the town. Visitors can also download walking trials and visit dog-friendly restaurants, pubs and cafes or enjoy a boat ride with their dog.

For those who are into art, the town has a range of museums and art galleries that are worth visiting, including Gallery 98, located at the top of Ramsgate’s high street. The gallery holds art exhibitions showcasing work from high-quality local artists as well as young emerging ones.

Hold Creative Spaces is a gallery that offers workshops and classes and its aim is ‘to make your creative life simple by providing creative services to all.’

The Italianate Glasshouse located in the town’s King George VI Memorial Park is another spot that is popular amongst visitors. The glasshouse, which opens between April and September, can enjoy the ‘tranquil and peaceful surroundings.’ The Glasshouse also has a cafe, one of the many places where visitors can enjoy a bite at the seaside town.

Another place notable in Ramsgate is that it is home to the UK’s largest Wetherspoons. The Royal Victoria Pavilion, loved by the locals is spread across two floors and can serve up to 1,500 customers.
