Ingredients
Two large eggs
Four teaspoons vanilla extract
60 millilitres full fat milk
Four slices white bread (from small loaf or two slices from large loaf) each slice cut in half
25 grams butter
One drop flavourless vegetable oil for frying
50 grams caster sugar

Nigella’s doughnut French toast is easy to prepare and incredibly delicious
Method
In a wide, shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla until well combined.
Slice the bread in half and soak each piece in the egg mixture for about five minutes on each side, allowing them to absorb the flavours.
In a frying pan, heat a mix of butter and oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the soaked bread and fry until golden and slightly crisp on both sides, about three to four minutes per side.
On a plate, pour out some sugar. Once the bread is cooked, dip each piece into the sugar until fully coated, giving it a delightful, doughnut-like finish.
