ITV This Morning’s Alison Hammond says ‘I can’t wait’ as she makes rare admission

Alison Hammond has revealed she can’t wait to be a grandmother. The popular This Morning host, alongside Dermot O’Leary, was celebrating World Smile Day on the programme. During Friday’s episode, they chatted with viewers eager to share tales of joy brought by their loved ones.

One caller, Brenda, spoke of the delight her granddaughter brings her. Brenda said: “We always have a lovely wee cup of tea or coffee waiting for her,” prompting Alison to reflect: “She’s getting independent now and she’s just growing up,” while Dermot noted that her family’s support has bolstered her independence.

When Alison asked about the unique joys of grandparenting, Brenda humorously observed: “Your own children are a bit of a nuisance but when you have your grandchildren, you can love them and take them and then you can hand them back!”

It was then that Alison made a candid confession, saying: “I can’t wait for it to happen to me,” reports .

Alison is a mother to her 19-year-old son Aiden and had previously disclosed that she charges him rent to live at home.

“It’s brilliant, I’ve gone to a new level. Wait for it… he’s paying rent. I mean, it’s not a lot of rent, I’ll be honest with you,” she revealed on the Parenting Hell podcast, hosted by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe.

“I actually love getting a little bit of cash from him. Like, he gives it to me every month, that £40 – I absolutely love it. I go and get my eyebrows done, I go and get my nails done, and I pay in cash – perfect. It’s a nice base to begin, and it’s regular. He’s okay paying it. I thought he’d be a bit funny about it.”

She shared her delight at Aiden taking steps towards independence, including paying rent at home, which she cheekily spends on pampering herself.

“DJing was always his passion. So I said, ‘You know what, in life, you should do something where you love it. Something you would do for free, that becomes your passion and then that’s how you work.

“And you’ll never work a day in your life really, because you’re doing something you love,” Alison explained, offering insight into her supportive parenting style as she encourages Aiden to pursue his dream of becoming a DJ.
