Rock salt is touted as one of the most effective natural remedies for destroying gravel weeds, offering a lasting solution to kill the invasive plant.

When absorbed by the plant’s roots, salt disrupts the internal water balance, leading to the eventual demise of the weed in a short amount of time.

The experts elaborated: “Dissolve rock salt in water and use a spray bottle to apply it. This method helps cover larger areas and ensures the salt penetrates the soil to dehydrate the weeds.”

However, bear in mind that rock salt doesn’t differentiate between weeds and your cherished lawn or plants, so its application needs to be precise.

If you choose this solution to get rid of weeds, apply it far away from your garden when rain can’t transport the salt to your grass.

You should begin to see results within several days, but total eradication of the weeds can take anywhere from one to two weeks.

Also bear in mind that any type of salt will damage any plant it lands on, so this method is only advised on weeds growing through gravel.

Should you want to get rid of weeds that are interwoven with other plants you want to keep, the salt method wouldn’t be the best option.
