Paul was gutted on Antiques Road Trip
expert Paul Martin was left with huge regrets after suffering two devastating losses on the show. The TV star splashed the cash on two items that he thought would bring him big bucks – but was wreaked when the opposite happened.
On a recent episode of the much-loved show, Paul opted to purchase two items for a total of £100. He purchased a 1920s Morse switch costing him £20 and a box of lantern slides, which set him back £80.
However, when it came to auction, which massively set him back. Both of the two items caused him to suffer a huge loss, selling for a much lower price than he had paid.
The switch was sold for a measly £5, meaning not only did Paul not make any profit, he also lost £15. He exlaimed: “That was a dreadful start!” as the gavel came done.
But his luck only went from bad to worse as his box of slides went for just £60, meaning he lost another £20 – Totalling a £35 loss.

Paul said: “No, no come on!”, before the devastated expert continued: “I just lost £20.”
His co-star, Raj Bisram, tried to console him, saying: “It’s just the luck of the draw. £20 is nothing, you wait until you start losing hundreds!” But Paul was left reeling over the disastrous auctions.
Recently an item featured on Antiques Road Trip , after being bought for just £8. A damaged elephant ended up selling for thousands of pounds after it proved to be hugely popular in an online auction.

The auctioneer thought it could go for a couple of hundred, so everyone was taken aback when the hammer came down for an astonishing £2,700.
During the gripping auction, the auctioneer could be heard escalating the bids: “£1,400… £1,800, £1,900, £2,000,” while a voice-over chimed in with excitement, declaring: “Unheard of on the Road Trip! “
Eventually, with a commanding strike of his gavel, the auctioneer announced that the elephant had fetched a staggering £2,700 online.
