A star from the much-loved was left somewhat sheepish after inadvertently revealing to the crew that they might just have a leg up on their rivals – all thanks to a celebrity family member.

In the instalment, which aired on on Wednesday (October 2), contestants Sam and Kara embarked on a journey through Kent, endearingly referred to as the Garden of England, on a quest to discover some hidden gems.

Acting for the Blue team, Sam and Kara took on their opponents, Vicky and John Gleason of the Red team. Both pairs radiated enthusiasm and determination, prepared with their allocated funds, all set to clinch bargains to bring to the auction showdown.

However, before the game truly began, Sam disclosed a sly trump card to the production staff – his “uncle” had previously graced TV screens with an appearance on the beloved Antiques Roadshow.

He explained: “I know a little bit about antiques because my uncle used to be on the Antiques Roadshow”, reports .

Yet, Sam remained tight-lipped about the identity of his uncle, leaving viewers to wonder.

Host Eric Knowles jested in return: “Oh, a lot to live up to then,” as he kept the banter going. Sam retorted: “Yeah, if I lose I’m never going to hear the end of this.”

Host Eric nudged the Blue team about their competitive spirit, and Kara responded with a cheeky retort, saying: “Ohh we just want to make the most money that anyone’s ever made in Bargain Hunt history.”

Sam couldn’t help but chuckle as he quipped: “I don’t think we are really that competitive at all.”

Yet despite this light-hearted exchange, the Blue team’s fortunes were down when they experienced a significant blow at the auction, suffering a sizeable loss against the triumphant Red team which left them blushing with embarrassment.

The day’s designated expert, Mark Stacey, raised an eyebrow at the Blue team’s selections in the flea market, querying the optimistic prices they were ready to fork out.

Eric, the charismatic presenter of the show, challenged both teams to secure an item from the 20th Century, but the Blue team’s gamble on an antique medicine ball that they expected to cause a stir at the auction proved ineffective.

The episode was one of despair for Sam and Kara, especially after their high hopes for the antique medicine ball, purchased at £75, came crashing down; the sale concluded at a disappointing £20 online, adding to their woes.

As desperation loomed, expert Mark presented a final wildcard: a Chinese fingernail guard, which he thought could salvage their dwindling returns, now standing at -£121. Kara, clinging to hope, exclaimed: “We’ve got nothing to lose, let’s go for it.”

Regrettably, Mark’s efforts failed to change the course of events, and the pair ended their TV stint on a dismal note, grappling with a deficit of £156. Meanwhile, the victorious Red team clinched the show’s win with a less drastic deficit of minus £13.
