“Daily Show” correspondent Michael Kosta said Donald Trump was clearly “bored as shit” as he watched this week’s debate between running mate JD Vance and his Democratic counterpart, Tim Walz.
In the middle of the event, the former president fired off a random tweet about disgraced baseball legend Pete Rose, who had died the previous day.
Trump pushed for Rose ― who was banned from baseball for betting on the sport ― to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
“Do it now, before his funeral!” Trump wrote.
“Do it before the funeral?” a bewildered Kosta asked. “You don’t have to bring the body to the Hall of Fame to swear him in.”

Kosta said the timing of the message was awkward for the Ohio senator.
“It must’ve been rough for JD Vance,” he said. “Think about it: It’s like hitting a home run at your Little League game, looking to the stands to see your dad’s proud, smiling face, and realizing he’s at home tweeting about the death of Pete Rose.”
