A star was left with egg on his face after he revealed to producers he had somewhat the upper hand over the opposing team after revealing he had a famous uncle.
Sam and Kara took part in the programme that aired on Wednesday (October 2), with the pair heading to the Garden of England, also known as Kent, to snap up a bargain or two.
They featured on the show as the Blue team and were up against the Reds, who included Vicky and John Gleason. Both teams appeared to be ready for battle as they nabbed their cash in the hope of grabbing a steal, to sell at auction.
As each team was excitedly gearing up beforehand, Sam unveiled a secret weapon to the producers, outlining that he had inside knowledge when it came to antiques, with his “uncle” having previously been on .
He said: “I know a little bit about antiques because my uncle used to be on the Antiques Roadshow.” Sam failed to mention his uncle’s name, leaving his comments as a mystery for viewers.

“Oh, a lot to live up to then,” responded host Eric Knowles as he narrated. Sam added: “Yeah, if I lose I’m never going to hear the end of this.”
Attempting to get to know the Blue team better, presenter Eric asked: “How competitive are you?” It was Kara, Sam’s partner on the programme, who this time jested: “Ohh we just want to make the most money that anyone’s ever made in Bargain Hunt history.”
As Sam cut in once more, adding: “I don’t think we are really that competitive at all.”
Sam said his uncle used to be on Antiques Roadshow
Despite Sam’s inside knowledge, unfortunately, it didn’t go their way when attempting to sell their goods at auction and they ended up suffering a massive loss on the show, with the Red team proving to be victorious and leaving them blushing.
The Blue team made a couple of purchases at the flea market that even caused their allocated expert for the day, Mark Stacey, to raise an eyebrow as he prompted them to reconsider the price.
Host, Eric, had tasked both teams with tracking down one 20th Century item each, with the Blue team opting for an old medicine ball that they thought would cause a storm at auction – and it didn’t.
Sam and Kara suffered a huge loss
It proved to be an epic loss for Sam and Kara after the medicine ball that they’d paid £75 for, failed to impress and sold for just £20 online, with things getting worse for the couple throughout the entire day.
Just before they were about to call it quits, expert Mark pulled out a Chinese fingernail guard that he believed might be able to rescue them from their staggering minus figure, -£121. Kara said: “We’ve got nothing to lose, let’s go for it.”
It turned out Mark’s help wasn’t fruitful either and the pair ended their TV stint on a whopping minus £156, with the Red team taking home the show win, with minus £13 as their final score.
Bargain Hunt airs weekdays on One, from 12.15.
