BBC One Show’s Alex Jones ‘really sad’ as she shares emotional family news

and her husband, Charlie Thomson, moved to the countryside from London a few months back, and the TV host has been open about the difficulties she has faced during the move.

This week on her podcast, Binge!, presenter revealed her mother-in-law had been over from Auckland to help the family with their transition.

However despite that, Alex sharing that the pair get on famously, she also expressed concern that the family now don’t know when her husband’s mother will next be able to visit.

“Bit of a sad week actually, my mother-in-law Annabel… I do love my mother-in-law. She has been over for five weeks from Auckland staying with us. She’s been there as we have settled the children in to new schools.

“She pulls Charlie into line, which is the key reason I love her, but she left on Wednesday. That was really sad as we don’t know when we will see her again.”

Alex and Charlie moved into their dream country home back in July, and she has shared the difficulty of placing their kids Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, two, in three different schools.

However, despite the challenges, the TV star said on : “We made it and are completely delighted with the new house. Thank you so much for all your messages of support over the last few weeks.

“We are living in complete chaos, but it already feels like home.”

Alex went on to admit it was a “big decision” to leave their home in west London after 14 “happy” years, though they “wanted the children to have space to play outside and to grow up in nature”.

“It took nearly four years of searching to find the ‘one’,” she added. “Somewhere where the children could appreciate nature but yet be close enough to London for me to get to work, and we have.

“It feels like she was waiting for us to find her. We feel very lucky.”

Shortly after Alex’s house move, her The One Show co-host was axed over allegations about his behaviour.

Alex recently spoke out about her future on The One Show, saying she has “no intention of leaving” after having been on the sofa for 14 years.

Speaking on her role on the show on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Alex said: “I can’t believe I’m still here. I just go in, do the job and hope no one notices I’m still there. I just love it.”

Having been working on the show since 2010, Alex revealed she gets asked what she wants to do next, but she’s not thinking about that.

“People ask a lot, ‘What do you want to do next? Don’t you want to do a big entertainment show?’ I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’ I’m really happy,” she said.
