When you’re hunkered down, immersed in a game, you really don’t want to be getting tangled up in wires at a crucial moment. Whether you’re into Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption or EA Sports FC, you want to be free, unencumbered and able to respond to that shooter/zombie/long ball coming at you, ASAP. 

And ideally, you don’t want the controller you’re using to cost the earth either. Enter the , which you can currently buy on Amazon for £39.99 – down from £59.99. This is for the regal-looking astral purple colour – there are plenty of other hues, including shock blue and pulse red, but prices do vary. 

It’s compatible with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, but you can also use it on Windows devices if you like to play on your PC or even your phone. The nifty record option means you can capture moments of gameplay to rewatch later, or share with your mates.

Gamers are often sticklers for quality, and one customer was pleased to report: “The buttons and triggers are responsive and precise, providing excellent control and a satisfying tactile experience. The textured grips on the back are a fantastic addition, ensuring the controller stays securely in my hands during intense gameplay.”

However, one user flagged that while two AA batteries are included, you do need to stock up on more: “The controller is powered by AA batteries, which might be seen as a downside for some users who prefer a built-in rechargeable battery. However, the upside is that you can easily swap out batteries during long gaming sessions without waiting for a recharge.”

While one customer noted: “It does seem to disconnect from the PC (bluetooth) very rarely – although it might be because I have like 2-3 devices connected like Alexa, Earbuds to the Bluetooth.”

But perhaps the best thing about the Amazon deal is the price. The exact same controller , and is full price at  Alternatively, Game.co.uk has a classic black option, but this one isn’t wireless – the . It’s cheaper at £24.99, but it does mean more cables round the house.
